| Bio: I am a fan of classic country music and Western Swing. While country has always found outside influences, today’s country is most part, pop with some southern rock influences. As a songwriter, I have to listen to what is selling today but I still find time for the classics; there are so many I haven’t learned yet. I grew up in a musical family; my father is a fiddler and former Canadian Trick Fiddling Champion. My mother plays accordion and my older brother is a very talented piano player. I’ve always loved to sing which I started at the age of 3 when my mother taught me, ‘My Friend, the Witchdoctor’ and ‘Squaws Along the Yukon’. I’ve been a songwriter since the age of 17 and in 2000, I shared the Will Rogers Academy of Western Artists Western Swing Song of the Year award with Dayna Wills for a song we co-wrote and she recorded. The music planned for today’s performance will be somewhat eclectic with an emphasis on classic country and perhaps a song or two of my own thrown in. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I do performing. 9/10/2007 | |||||||||||||||||||
