| Bio: I had an interest in music at a very early age even in first grade I built a pitch correct flute for the school science fair. During elementary school I played a little acoustic guitar learning standards such as Blowing in the wind, and Where have all the flowers gone. When I entered middle school I became a multi instrumentalist playing Alto and Baritone Sax., Baritone Horn, and Flute, Alto Sax being my primary instrument. In 1973 I became a part of the Los Angeles Police Department Junior Band playing Alto Sax and Baritone horn. As part of the L.A.P.D. Junior band I toured playing concert engagements and marched in parades all over California and Canada for 4 years. Through middle school and high school I played in concert and marching band. I started playing electric bass when I was 14 and it soon became my principle instrument. I started out playing rock music influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Yes, Rush, Genesis, King Crimson. In an effort to find more musical complexity I began to learn Jazz and Jazz improvisation. I attended Los Angeles Pierce College in 1979-80 learning music theory and composition. In 1980 I began 4 years private bass instruction with Herb Mickman who wrote the “bass guitar forum” for Guitar Player magazine in the 70’s and 80’s and was the principle bass for Sara Vaughn and 2 years private instruction with Eddie Corell, in modern jazz improvisation. I played jazz shows and casuals for many years in the LA area I have played live, and done studio work, played for jazz reviews, theatrical productions, casuals bands, wedding bands. I play Blues, Jazz, Rock, Gospel, Funk, Reggae, Ska, Pop, Country, you name it. I know standard music notation, chord charts, and Nashville notation, fake, and am well equipped to play and teach modern rock and jazz improvisation. I am currently work on several music projects. I am also a songwriter/producer presenting material for the contemporary and alternative rock Christian music market. Chris Lentine | |||||||||||||||||||
