News - May 2007 Happy 90 degrees in April.....? I've got the A/C blowing me as I'm writing this, and last week it was in the 60's.....whatever....
OK, so it's almost May....besides the one obvious thing "The Tahoe Event" there are a few other little things going on. First off, our Sunday open houses will continue for the next three weeks. That means co-writes, recording, jamming - whatever you want to do that's "relatively legal"....our house from 1-4pm on:
Also, Thursday night co-writes will continue for the next two weeks. As usual, our house from 7-10pm, hook up here to finish your songs. Recording too, as time allows.
This months open mic is Tuesday May 8th, from 7-10pm at the Java Cafe' in Fair Oaks. The usual, usual....three song sets, original material. Full PA provided, just plug in and play. Java Cafe' is at the corner of Fair Oaks and Madison, it's a great family friendly venue....see you there!
Now a few side notes and general interest things: First off my thanks to Dave Baldwin. I've been really busy with the Tahoe thing, and helping everybody get ready. I finally clicked on the website the other day, to see that Dave has been busy updating it - and adding a bunch of cool stuff. "We" thank you Dave. Check out the new stuff at www.nsai-sacramento.com . And for all of your references, Dave does web sites and computer work. For those of you going to Tahoe, a few points on the pitching-critiquing aspect. If you have pro demo songs...great! If you have home demo stuff....great! Guitar vocal...great! If you're playing live...great! Point being...it doesn't matter! Sure we all feel better with the best representation of our creations....But the pros even say "critique first, demo last" they encourage us to wait - and save our $500 demo fee. How many songs to bring? The more the merrier. I've improved upon the original plan, instead of 4 pitching sessions - we'll all get 7 or 8! All in groups of 7 or 8, to one pro. If you have one "great song" then pitch that song each time. If you have 8 great songs, then you should already be in Nashville.....but until then pitch a different song each time. Bring a few spare cd's just in case one doesn't play. Bring lyric sheets for the pros to look at - we will not pass them around to fellow participants here. More Tahoe info will be following to my Tahoe email group......it's here! In closing, I just want to say that this Tahoe thing is coming together really well. By the end of it, all of Nashville will know who we are. I've been crazy busy with all the little details and helping everyone get ready. If I've dropped the ball with anyone, as to helping with a project, a song in progress or anything else....you have my apologies. I've been pushing my brain cells and this tired 52 year old body to it's near limit. Chances are high that I've probably forgot an item or two, trust me it's not because of any one thing being more important than the other. It's just me in the center of this hurricane that I've created, just thinking out loud "what the hell...". After the Tahoe event is over, we'll get back at the local stuff. Including two more publishers that "want to come out here"....they're asking me! How friggin' cool is that? I told you "long timers" that I'd put us on the map.......We're there! I almost forgot......our friends Jeffry and Kimberly of "Kimberly Trip" are releasing their new cd as we speak. I'll get the details of how to get one. They're excellent writers, performers, and just "nice folks". Here's hoping that this project really takes off. That's all!
