News - Feb 2007 Month two of 2007 is breathing down on us, I guess I'm just gettin' old - cause I can't keep up.
First off our "Thursday night co-writes" will continue for at least the next few weeks. It's open house for whomever feels up to it, we break into two's or three's and make it happen. Bring TITLES, paper and pen, plus an open mind to write from scratch. For those of us with co-writes in process we can work on those, or start new.....just write! So that's Thursday February 1st and February 8th, from 7:00 pm - 10:00'ish at my house. My address is at the end of this e-mail.
Also on Sunday February 4th (super bowl Sunday) we'll have another co-write session from 1:00 - 4:00. Same thing as above, and the football game will not be on here. I'm trying to give everyone a chance to get involved, this isn't just for the Tahoe bound group....it's for everyone. Then on Sunday Feb. 11th will be our regular meeting, again from 1:00 - 4:00 at my house. We'll do some song critiquing, some Tahoe business talk, and study an amazing current song. Followed by our monthly open mic on Tuesday Feb. 13th (lucky day!) at the Java Cafe in Fair Oaks - at the corner of Fair Oaks and Madison. From 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Our turn outs have been pretty good, let's keep it going!! This is for original material, 2 - 3 song sets. There's a full PA, just plug in and go.
On a different note, one thing that we'll talk about at the next meeting - but we can arrange things before that. Chris Lentine, had a really good idea - to do "Demo Meetings". Wherein people get together with their new songs and the musicians within the group and work the songs out. Then we do demo's here. I know that many of us need help getting demo's going on, and I know that we have some fine musicians within the group who'd be willing to help each other out. Time for everyone to speak up...... Who needs help??? Who's willing to help??? We need singers as well as musicians........ The ball is in your corner, let me know........Remember we are a "community". And a final note about our March 10th workshop with Dan Hodges. This is the biggest shot that we've had yet, a front line Nashville publisher coming here to speak to us and hear our material. This is also a great precursor to Tahoe. That's Saturday March 10th from 10-4:30 at Skip's music, the fee will be $60 which includes lunch as always (assorted Togo's and drinks). Dan is a big player in Nashville, this is a top shelf event! Please let me know if you're going to attend, as I need a count for food. As usual we'll just pay at the door.
Anyone who's been on this list for awhile should understand how much time and energy Beckett and I put into this cause. You all know that I do all of this for free, I'm just a volunteer for a cause....."us". However, please remember that Beckett does all of this in support of my psychosis, and in honor of the friendships that we have with many of you. She busts her tail to keep this all flowing too. Just remember to let her know how much you appreciate her contribution to all that goes on here. She makes all of this possible, and makes me look good in the process. We need to get her writing.....! And singing more often too.
