News - March 2007 I guess we're going to continue this hectic schedule for a little while longer......
First up, "Thursday Night Co-writes" will continue for the next three weeks, then we'll take a break. As before, bring a few titles - pen and paper. We'll start changing our focus to "completing songs" but there is still room for new folks too. We'll make it work.
Our regular meeting is on Sunday March 4th from 1-4. We'll quickly go over current business and upcoming events - then we'll split off and do demo work and finish co-writes. I ask all of you to have a direction, and try to work together to move things along - for when I'm recording people, that's all I can do. This day may well go on until 6:00 or 7:00 or whatever....
Next up - Saturday March 10th, publisher Dan Hodges from Murrah Music will be here. This is a full day workshop, from 10:00 - 4:30. Dan will talk a bit about the realities of publishing in Nashville, things to shorten our learning curves....hopefully! Then he will be listening to songs...looking for "keepers" to take back to Nashville. We all want our shot at the big leagues....here it is! Dan is looking for "country music" any other music thrown his way will get his opinion - but it's not his particular interest. Still this is a cool chance to see front line pros actually looking for material. That's at Skip's Music 2740 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento. The fee is $60 at the door. Bring a cd or cassette, or play live. You're promised one song each, we might get two....be prepared! Bring lyric sheets for Dan. Lunch will be provided as usual, Togo's or Subway plus munchies and drinks. Then on Tuesday March 13th is our open mic night. From 7-10 at the Java Cafe in Fair Oaks (at the corner of Fair Oaks and Madison). This venue is for original songs, 2 to 3 song sets. Full PA is provided, just plug in and go. We'll also be doing more demo sessions, I'll forward a schedule soon, this crazy schedule will probably continue through early May - until the Tahoe event. After that Beckett and I will take a bit of a break..... An important side note.....Our dear friend Beverly Read just went through some surgery, while she's recovering at home we want her to know that we all wish her the best. She's a great lady and a really solid writer and singer. She's been with this group from the beginning....All Our Best Beverly! We Thank You.....
