News - April 2010

Hey everyone

Our meeting this month will be Sunday April 18th. It will be from 1pm to 4pm at our usual spot,the art gallery next to the Coffee Garden. The address of the Coffee Garden is 2904 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento Ca 95818. The gallery is on the corner of the street. You will see a NSAI Meeting Sign on the door.

This month I would like to rip apart some of the newer songs on the charts. I have been noticing some interesting trends that have been going on in Country Music, an I think we should all examine them.

Second this month we are going to start our Bob Regan Critique contest. Bob was generous enough to offer to critique two songs from our group every quarter, so we will start this month.

Here are the rules:
First and formost, you have to be present to play, so don't email me your song.
Bob only wants to hear a vocal guitar or vocal piano, so do not bring in fully demoed songs.
Everyone will get to enter 1 song. The top 2 with the highest amount of votes I will send to Bob.
You can play your song live for the group, but if you win you must email me a mp3 of your song along with the lyrics in a word format, within that week. If you forget I will move on to the next song in line.
You must BRING LYRIC SHEETS. You can bring one on a transparency sheet or 10 copies for the group. No lyric, no entry.
OK so there ya go!!!

I think to have someone who has had 200 cuts, like Bob, critique your song for FREE, is a opportunity that you should not miss. Except for Dan Hodges, I have not met a more gracious, real, down to earth person like Bob in the music business. We are very lucky to have Bob Regan as a friend of our group.
